Examination of Conscience
Examination of conscience is a review of one's past thoughts, words, actions, and omissions for the purpose of ascertaining their conformity with, or deviation from, the moral law. In other words, an examination of conscience helps you to prepare yourself by reflecting on how we have hurt our relationships with God and other people through our thoughts, words, and actions. Click below to prepare oneself with a few examples of Examinations of Conscience that can help you prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Act of Contrition: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and fear the pains of hell, but most of all, because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and worthy of all my love. I firmly intend with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. AMEN

St. Bridget Parish is pleased to offer this for your family at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses on Sundays.
Children will be invited from their parents’ pews to gather at the sanctuary before the Scripture readings with a Children's Church leader. Before proceeding to the side chapel, the Pastor will give the children and their leader a special blessing. After Children's Church, the children will be escorted back to you during the Offertory.
The program is held year-round during the 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM Masses. It is open to both parish members and visitors. There is no cost or signup required, and children are welcome to participate on as many or as few Sundays as they wish.
If you have any questions about Children's Church or if your child has a disability or special needs, please call the church office at (985)446-6801 to arrange a conversation with the Children's Church coordinator, Wanda LeBlanc.
What happens at the Children's Church?
Children's Church is a celebration of the "Liturgy of the Word" designed specifically for children. It provides them with an opportunity to hear God's message through their own experiences and in a language they can understand. After the Gospel reading, the leader of Children's Church invites the children to discuss the Gospel, encouraging them to connect it to their own lives. Key elements of this ritual include prayer, Scripture readings, and lesson worksheets.
Who provides the Liturgy and activities?
The Liturgy is conducted by parish volunteers who have undergone background checks and completed Safe Environment Training.
Can I volunteer for Children's Church? Yes, you can. However, you must complete a background check and Safe Environment Training. If you are interested, reach out to the church office for more information.
Parents, we encourage you to bring your child/children to Children’s Church
at the 8:00 am or 10:30 am Mass on Sundays.
The future with children begins now. We build it up every time we take children to Mass, every time we open God’s word and read together, every time we serve the poor and needy, and every time we allow children to share in the grace that flows from the Sacraments. Children are not the future of the Church; they are the Church.
Luke 18:16: “But Jesus called the children to him and said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a storm less eternity awaits us. Amen.
